Staying busy at home with your pet
Our new norm is social distancing however, that doesn't mean you have to sit around bored while stuck at home. We'll go through some fun ways to occupy your time. Here are 10 ideas from our staff that will keep you busy.
1. Muffin Pan game
Find a muffin pan, fill all or some of the cups with treats, top it off with a ball and that's it! Your pet will have fun finding and digging out his new found treats.
2. Teach your pet a new trick
This can be a new simple trick or maybe refreshing an old trick. Your pet isn't going to care, they're just excited to spend time with you.
3. Run the yard or stairs (with caution of course)
This one will get your pup panting. Be careful of obstacles that could hurt your pet. But a few controlled laps up and down the stairs will burn off some of that energy.
4. Hide and Seek with the treat
This is pretty self explanatory, hide a treat somewhere in the house and let your pet find it. Start out easy at first but increase difficulty as your pet catches on.
5. Tug a War (or your pets appropriate version)
Play your pets favorite tug game with them. If tug isn't right for your pet, choose a different toy. As long as your pet is playing and being active, thats the ultimate goal.
6. The cup game
All you need are three cups and a treat. Put the treat under one of the cups, mix them around and let your pet try and figure out where the treat is.
7. Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles
A lot of pets love chasing bubbles. Not only is this fun for them, it can be quite entertaining for us humans too. Check to make sure the bubbles you use are safe for pets.
8. Snuggle up and watch a movie
Sometimes it's nice to just relax and unwind. So, grab your pet, find a good show or movie and don't forget your favorite snacks.
9. Indoor obstacle course
Set up an obstacle course for your pet through the house. This can be as simple or complex as you want. Start off easy until your pet gets the hang of it.
10. Bake some goodies
You will find a variety of dog treat recipes online. Find one that best fits your pets diet needs and have fun with it.
