How to choose the right facility to lodge your pet?

Do you have a vacation coming up?  Maybe you’re moving or had an unexpected trip arise. There usually comes a time when you will need to lodge your pet at some time or another. Here are some tips to help you choose the right place for your pup.

Do your research

In order to do research you must first find a facility. Take your search to sites such as Google, Yelp, or Nextdoor. This will give you a couple of options to choose from when starting your research. Also keep these sites in mind when looking for recommendations and opinions about a facility. These are useful because you can see what other people are saying about a certain facility. 

Tour the facility

When looking for a lodging facility you want to know you can trust your pet will be taken care of. Touring a facility can give you a tremendous amount of information. Check that the facility is clean, secure and well maintained. Look at the animals that are being lodged there currently; do they look well cared for? Keep mental notes of how the day-to-day schedules are carried out, feeding times and other important factors when caring for your pet.

Ask questions

There are no wrong questions when it comes to the care of your pet. How will they respond in an emergency? Do they administer medication? Will they notify you if your pet is not feeling well? What is your pet’s daily routine? Ask every question you can think of. You will want to know as much as possible about the facility you leave your pet at.

Prepare your pup for their stay

You’ll want to make sure you take anything that will make your pet feel more comfortable. A facility should allow things like beds, toys, treats and other items that comfort your pet. If possible always pack your pets food and send it with them. This will help in the comfort of your pet as some pets have sensitive tummies.
