How to incorporate your pet into your workout routine
It’s a new year and we all aim to get healthier. Just like
humans, pets need exercise too. Here are some fun ways to include your pet into
your daily workout.
Yoga
Yoga is beneficial to our mind, body and soul. It can also
be beneficial to your pet. Some of those benefits include increased bonding and
trust with your pet. Dogs are pack animals so trust is important. It can also
benefit circulation and have a calming effect on some pets.
Jogging/Walking
Dogs’ love going on walks; take your pooch with you on your
next run. This is a healthy way to spend some quality time with your pet.
Walking or running will help to calm your pet and stimulate his mind. This is a
good time to leash train, if your new addition is a puppy.
Bicycling/Skating
Get out of the gym and out into the world. Visit new places
to keep your workout from becoming boring. This will stimulate you and your
pups mind; making your workout fun. This exercise is beneficial for a number of
reasons including muscle strengthening and endurance.
Paddle
boarding/Kayaking
Bring your fur baby next time you hit the water. This will
take some practice and you may end up in the water a few times before your pet
gets the hang of it. If that happens, take the time to enjoy the water and have
a quick play session. This holds many benefits for your mind, body and soul.
Similar to yoga, it requires balance and focus. These are both great qualities
to teach your pet.
Soccer/Fetch Play
Sessions
Fetch doesn’t mean you have to just stand there and throw a
ball. Move around and get that heart rate up. Hide behind a tree or move spots to keep your pup interested.
