Halloween dangers for your pet

It's that time of year again, trick or treating with the family. We love to dress our dogs up but there are some things to watch out for. We all know dogs can't have chocolate but what else is on the danger list? We will go through some items to watch out for this Halloween.

Top 4 items your dog should NEVER have:

#1. Chocolate

Everyone has heard of this one! No chocolate for dogs. Chocolate can do damage to our dogs and is highly toxic. When chocolate is ingested, it may cause vomiting, diarrhea and more serious complications.

#2. Candy Wrappers

Kids love leaving candy and wrappers everywhere! Make sure that your pup doesn't get ahold of them as they can cause problems. They can choke on them and cause bowel obstructions. These can be life-threatening if not dealt with right away.

#3. Grapes and Raisins

This is a little less known toxin. These can be very dangerous for our pets. It might be healthy for us to eat but be sure to keep them away from your furry friends. Symptoms may include upset stomach, diarrhea and even kidney failure in severe cases.

#4. Candles

Dogs are curious creatures,  and love checking out their new surroundings. Candles are a fun way to celebrate your newly carved pumpkin but remember, it can be dangerous for dogs. They can burn themselves or much worse, knock it over and burn something else. Please remember to keep all candles up high.

Please keep in mind that it is our job as pet owners to keep our pets safe. This is just a few of the hazard that may arise this Halloween season.
